Marking Period One 2012-2013

K-2 - We have been study colors, numbers and classroom vocabulary.  Students have played flyswatter game on the board and they have loved it.  We have also been working on answering questions in Spanish like What is your name?, How old are you?, What is your favorite color? and How old are you?

3-5 - We recently talked about Hispanic Heritage Month.  Students listened to stories about Rita Moreno, Celia Cruz and César Chávez.  We discussed their importance to the Hispanic culture here in the United States.  Students are also working on their conversation skills in Spanish with partners

6-8 - El día de los muertos was a big hit again this year.  Students discussed the importance of the holiday and ways that it is celebrated.  Students decorated skulls, skeletons and even made papel picado.  Their favorite part was el pan de los muertos, and the recipe is down below.
